Cat's-eyes

Virtually every manufacturer, since the late 1940s, has made cat’s-eye marbles. The majority of cat’s-eye marbles that you will find are foreign-made.

The first American cat’s-eyes were manufactured by Peltier Glass Company. This is the Peltier Banana. Bananas are opaque single vane cat’s-eyes with occasionally slight ridges in transparent clear glass. The next American manufacturer of cat’s-eyes appears to have been Master Glass Company. These are three-vane translucent cat’s-eyes in transparent clear glass. Another early cat’s-eye is the Marble King St. Mary’s. This is a four vane cat’s-eye with one vane plane in one color and the other vane plane in another color. Cat’s-eyes were also made by Vitro Agate (four vane) , Gladding-Vitro (cage style), and a number of later manufacturers. Foreign cat’s-eyes  were, and continue to be, made in Mexico and the Far East. Most of these are single color four vane, or three color six vane. The glass of many foreign cat’s-eyes has a light bottle green tint to it.
